MY TOP 5 WAYS OF WINDING DOWN AFTER A STRESSFUL DAY

Wednesday, 24 February 2016

I rarely get stressed, however when I do I well and truly erupt. Today was one of those days. So, as I was trying to wind down and de-stress, I thought I would share these 5 little things that I do in order to sort myself out.

1. Hit the gym! Even if it's 20 minutes on the cardio, my anger and worries seem to sort themselves out (or at least I can clear my head to sort them out later). Stick my head phones in, a quick pump and I'm feeling those endorphins.
2. This one may be a little more personal but I love to write when I'm stressed. It doesn't have to be amazing content or beautifully presented, just putting my thoughts down in writing clears my head and allows me to strategically look at my worries instead of following my angry stressed heart - something I do far too often.
3. Cliched but helpful - take a big ass bubble bath. Whatever soaps and bubbly stuff you can find, pour it in. The more the better. Soak for half an hour, 2 hours, 2 days... whatever you need!
4. Some foods are really good to eat when you're stressed out, such as chocolate. Chocolate releases serotonin (or so I'm told) which is the "happy hormone". Therefore the more happy hormone you have, the less stressed you get. Although I'm not condoning only eating chocolate and foods like this
- obesity isn't good.
5. Last but not least, seek some advice! I always talk to my mum. She's my rock after all! Whenever I'm stressed I just talk to my mum about it or have a laugh and I normally feel much better about the situation. She does have a lot more experience and it's always good to get some outside help.
Anyway, if you're ever stressed and need a helping hand, I'm always here!
